Graduation Ceremony Information

    PSJA ISD will be hosting in-person graduation ceremonies at the PSJA Stadium with special Spirit Drives with times and dates varying by campus. Participation by a student or family member in a ceremony is voluntary. There will be no rehearsal and no congregating at the stadium or around the field or parking lots before/after the ceremony. 

    As of May 13, 2020, based on the current state and local guidelines

    The Graduate and 1-2 family members will be allowed to exit the vehicle. The family members will be allowed to take pictures of the graduate as they walk across the stage and receive their diploma. They will both exit the stadium and return to their vehicle.  

    • Required Health Screening Questionnaires will be sent to families of Graduates 

    • Once a family questionnaire is completed and submitted showing no symptoms as set forth by the state 

    • All graduates and parents will be required to wear a mask. The mask may temporarily be removed as the graduate walks the stage and takes graduation pictures, if they wish to.

    Official speeches and commencement will be transmitted live via 


    Please note: 

    • Schools nurses will be prepared to check the temperature of graduates and guests as they arrive; 
    • An emergency plan will be executed for any graduates or guests who are not in compliance; 
    • We will repeatedly disinfect any touchpoints exposed to graduates and guests; 
    Anyone with a 100-degree temperature or higher, or showing any symptoms will NOT be permitted to enter the stadium or attend the in-person graduation ceremony.

    In the event of inclement weather, graduation ceremonies may be delayed 30 mins to an 1-hour or moved to another day, if necessary.

Commencement Plan

  • Students will be lined up 6ft entering South Gate-Visitors Section lining up along the track. The stage area will be set up on the Northside of the field utilizing the screen as the background

    • 1-2 family members will be allowed to join the graduate, this person will line up on the opposite side of the track, standing 6ft apart to capture the moment live

    • Students/Family Member will exit on the North-Home Side of the Stadium with cars waiting for them lined up on Kelly St. and up Fir St.

    • Other family members and staff would be watching as part of the LIVE broadcast 

    • Only Top 10 will be in order, all others as they come in 

    • Graduates will be giving Counselor ID Number to pull up Name on-screen as they take their official photo, receive a diploma, move tassel and walk the stage (no shaking hands)
